Short answerWix can work for Google Ads, but test your page. In our October 2026 test of 7 Wix landing page template demos on mobile, the median PageSpeed performance score was 66 (range 49 to 79) and the median Largest Contentful Paint was 10.1 seconds. Layout shift was zero on all 7. Most of the weight was script, not images.

Our Wix results

We wanted a straight answer to a common question: is Wix good for Google Ads? So we tested it. We took 7 landing page templates from Wix's own template gallery and ran each published demo through Google PageSpeed Insights on mobile. We checked each page's code first to confirm it was built on Wix.

Here is what we found (ClickMend scans, October 2026, 7 pages):

MeasureMedianRange
Performance score (0 to 100)6649 to 79
Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)10.1 seconds4.4 to 14.5 seconds
Total Blocking Time (TBT)54 ms3 to 1,078 ms
Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)00 on all 7

Google's Lighthouse scoring calls 90 to 100 good, 50 to 89 needs improvement, and 0 to 49 poor. Six of the 7 Wix pages landed in the middle band. One scored 49. None reached 90.

Google rates LCP as good at 2.5 seconds or less and poor above 4 seconds. Every Wix page in our test was above 4 seconds in the lab. That is a lab number on a slow simulated phone, so real visitors may see a faster page. Still, it is the same test for every builder, so it is fair for comparing.

The good news: layout shift was zero on all 7 Wix pages. Nothing jumped around while loading.

What slowed the pages

We looked at the audits Lighthouse flagged on each page. A few patterns showed up on almost every Wix demo.

  • Script, not images, made up most of the weight. Script was a median 1,419 KB per page. Images were only a median 87 KB. Most of that script came from Wix's own file server, so it is part of the platform.
  • Unused JavaScript. Lighthouse flagged unused JavaScript on all 7 pages, a median 272 KB that loaded but was not used on first view.
  • The main image was found late. On 6 of 7 pages, Lighthouse flagged that the biggest image on screen was not found early. On those pages, the browser waited a median of about 1.9 seconds before it even started to download that image.
  • Lots of requests. A median of 270 files per page. Each one takes a little time on a phone network.
  • Main-thread work. Lighthouse flagged heavy main-thread work on 5 of 7 pages, from 2.1 to 8.1 seconds of browser work.

Images were rarely the problem here. Lighthouse found image savings on 5 pages, but they were small, from 8 to 90 KB.

Fixes you control on a Wix page

You can't rewrite Wix's own code. But you control what goes on the page, and that matters a lot.

  • Build one short page for the ad. Don't send ad clicks to a long home page with many sections.
  • Keep the top of the page simple: a headline, one image, a phone button, and a short form.
  • Use one hero image, sized for a phone, and compress it before you upload it.
  • Skip sliders, galleries, and animation on the first screen. They add script and push the main content back.
  • Remove apps and widgets the ad page does not need, like chat, feeds, or pop-ups.
  • Add only the tracking tags you use. Every extra tag adds script to a page that is already script heavy.
  • Test the live page on mobile after every change. Then test again a week later.

Speed is only half the job. A fast page with a broken conversion tag still wastes money. Read how to check if your conversion tracking works, and run a free ClickMend scan to see your score and tracking in one report.

What this test can't tell you

This is a small test. Please read the numbers with that in mind.

  • We tested 7 pages. A different set of templates could move the median.
  • These were template demos, not real ad pages. Your page will have your own images, forms, and tags.
  • It is lab data from one run per page on a simulated mid-tier phone. Scores move a little from run to run.
  • None of the 7 demos had their own real-user data in Google's Chrome UX Report. Google only had data for the whole wix.com site, which says nothing about one demo page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Wix good for Google Ads?

It can be. The ad does not care what built the page. What matters is how fast your page loads on a phone and whether your tracking fires. In our small test, Wix templates scored a median 66 out of 100 on mobile, so test your own page before you spend.

Why is my Wix landing page slow on mobile?

In our test, the biggest part of each page was script, a median 1,419 KB, while images were a median 87 KB. Lighthouse also flagged that the main image was found late on 6 of 7 pages. Keep the page short, keep the top section simple, and add only the apps you need.

Does a slow page hurt my Google Ads?

Google's own Quality Score help page says the speed your page loads can be the difference between someone bouncing or buying. ClickMend does not read your Quality Score, but it checks the page speed parts that feed into landing page experience.

Can I test my own Wix page for free?

Yes. Paste the final URL from your ad into the free ClickMend scan. You get 2 scans a week with no card, a score from 0 to 100, and a tracking check.

Before you change the ad again, test where it lands.
